ETSY CRAFT PARTY : DIY place card holders!

From June 17 to 19, it's time to celebrate the creativity around the world, in occasion of Etsy birthday!
Share all your craft creations around the world by tagging them with #etsycraftparty.

I want to share a lovely tutorial to make beautiful place card holders, perfect for a wedding, a spring party, a birthday, a baby shower... a cute idea you can realize if you are planning to participate to a craft event or if you will make a creative project at your home.

Spring place card holders

MATERIALS:

- Scraps of felt in different colors
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- Small straw hats
- Needle and thread
- Cardboard

1- Cut 2 stripes of felt, one to fix around the small hat with hot gun and another to make a bow

2- Fix the bow on the back of the hat with the hot glue (be careful not to burn yourself!)

HOW TO MAKE THE FLOWERS:

3- ROSE

Cut a stripe of felt, 1.2" wide and 4" long

Bend it

Start rolling it to make the centre of the rose

Fix it with hot glue

Cut the petals, you will need 8 petals to make two roses, you don't have to be precise while you're cutting the petals, they will look good anyway

Fix all the 4 petals around the rose with hot glue

A very cute rose is ready!

4- SUNFLOWER

Cut a stripe of felt 1.2" wide and 9.5" long, cut some triangle shapes as in the following picture

It's the time to use needle and thread to curl up the stripe, to create the sunflower

Cut a round shape from the brown felt and fix it in the centre of the sunflowers with hot glue

5- MAKE THE LEAVES

This is the shape to cut from the green felt to make the roses leaves

Fix it under the rose with the hot glue

For the sunflower

Fix all the flowers and leaves on the small hat as you prefer and add the cardboard with the name

What creative projects are you doing?
Let's craft!

A craft idea for October, a soft and colorful pumpkin!

A
"recipe" to make a cute pumpkin, made using polystyrene as main ingredient, really simple and fun!
I used my pumpkins to create an autumn wreath, but they can be used also for centerpieces, garlands, as placeholders for an Halloween party...

Ok, here is my adorable, soft, colorful, fluffy, cozy pumpkin!!

Here is all you need to create it:
-polystyrene ball
-orange felt (enough to cover all the ball)
-a little piece of green wire
-a fabric leaf (I cut it from a fake flower)
-a little piece of branch
-glue
-scissors
-one cutter blade

Cut the segments all around the ball with the blade, must be deep enough to insert the felt

Insert a clove cut from the felt into the segments on the ball, using the other side of the blade:
(pay attention to the cutting edge!)

You have to cover the entire ball and this is the result:

Now you can add some details to decorate your pumpkin, I glued the leaf and the petiole:

Then a cute curl made coiling the green wire around a pencil:

With a "creepy face" it would be ready for Halloween...

DIY: Creative Christmas cupcakes!

T

oday I made some cupcakes for the Christmas Eve dinner with my family and kin.
It has become a tradition that every year I create new desserts to amaze them, this year I tried to make some cupcakes, it's the first time for me and I'd like to show you the final result and the recipe I used.
I made vanilla cupcakes, here are the decorations I created:

Merry Christmas!!!

WHAT I USED:

For 12 vanilla cupcakes
- 4,5 oz. Butter
- 4,5 oz. Sugar
- 3 Eggs
- 4,5 oz. Flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 spoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla

For frosting:
- 2,7 oz. Butter
- 2 spoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 8 oz. powdered sugar

For decorations:
- White fondant
- Food dyes
- Red glitter for food
- Candied cherries

Step1: Cupcakes
First of all heat the oven to 374 F(190 ° C)
In a bowl combine the butter and the sugar, whisk until well blended

 Whisk the eggs

Add slowly the aggs to the butter together with a spoon of flour and whisk

Add the milk and all the flour and whisk until completely incorporated into the butter mixture

Now you can pour the batter in the baking cups

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.

Here is my first cupcake ready to be decorated!

Step2: Frosting

In a bowl whisk the butter with the milk and add the powder sugar. Whisk to combine.
Cover the cupcakes with the frosting:

You can add food dyes to color the frosting, I left it white because I want some snow for Christmas!

Step3: Decorations!

I made polar bears with white fondant, here are the elements for the bodies:

Then I made penguins:

I hope my guests will like the cupcakes!
