My experience as a wedding planner: "Sex and the city" decorations for centerpiece

I 'm creating all the decorations for a movie theme wedding that will be celebrated on June 30.
My idea is to make wooden hand painted shapes inspired to bride and groom favourite movies, attack sticks and insert them in the flower centerpieces on each table.
I drew the shapes in pencil on wood and I cut them.
I painted the shapes with white acrylic plaster to create a suitable base for painting.
Here are some shapes inspired to four different movies:

You will understand later what movies are! :) Or maybe you already knew!

The first shapes I have prepared are for the movie "Sex and the city" for the table of bride's friends from university.

I painted the cosmopolitan cocktail and the "Manolo Blahnik Something Blue"!
I will insert them in the flower centerpieces made of purple and white roses.

I painted also the back of each shapes:

See you soon with other movies!

My experience as a wedding planner: list of bride and groom favourite movies

I
am looking at the list of movies for the wedding I'm going to organize in June
(as I talked in my previous post : http://perlillapets.blogspot.it/2012/04/my-experience-as-wedding-planner-real.html).

Wedding theme is cinema, so every table of the wedding dinner will represent a movie, here are bride's favourite ones:

- Gone with the wind by Victor Fleming
This is her favourite movie, so we will use it for the bride and groom table!

- The color purple by Steven Spielberg

 - The pursuit of happiness by Gabriele Muccino

 - Pretty woman by Garry Marshall

- Sex and the city by Michael Patrick King
This is the perfect movie for the table for her friends from university

- Back to the Future by Robert Zemeckis
This is a very important movie of her childhood, so we will use it for the table of her best friends, I'm thinking of building a model of  Back to the Future DeLorean! (Maybe decorated like the bride and groom car!!)

- Far and Away by Ron Howard

-Titanic by James Cameron

Here are groom's favourite movies:

- Kill Bill by Quentin Tarantino

- Modern Times by Charles Chaplin

- 2001 Space Odissey by Stanley Kubrik

- The Gladiator by Ridley Scott

- Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino

- Stand by me by Rob Reiner

- The Untouchables by Brian De Palma

- Blade Runner by Ridley Scott

- The Departed by Martin Scorsese

- The Shawshank Redemption by Frank Darabont

Now I am going to draw some sketches for the decorations inspired by these films, I have lots of ideas!
I'll show you them soon :)

Tutorial: an eggs garden for Easter!

A friend of mine asked me an idea to put on the table, in a creative way, hard-boiled eggs for Easter.
I watched eggs shells and I thought they have the same color of terracotta pots, so I decided to turn them into cute little vases of flowers.

 Here's how!

YOU NEED:
-First of all hard-boiled eggs

- Green and brown cardboard
- Double-sided tape
- Little fabric flowers

1- Cut a strip of green cardboard that will be the stand for egg

2- Make many cuts to give the effect of grass

3- Cut a little circle from brown cardboard, it will be the earth in the pot, fix it with double-sided tape

4- Fix a fabric flower on the "earth"

You can also cut a stem and a leaf from the green cardboard

Happy Easter!!

Easter is coming...

I
have two items in my shop dedicated to Easter, a big egg all covered with flowers and a cute basket centerpiece:

Flowers egg with stand

An explosion of spring flowers in pastel and vibrant colors, one of a kind, egg covered with flowers hand made one by one, it has been an hard work!!  :)
An important centerpiece, a really original way to decorate your home for Easter.
Egg is on display on a stand, a terracotta vase, it is not fixed to the stand so you can rotate it as you want, since every side is different!

Easter Basket
A basket centerpiece with ivory, pink, light blue, green, purple, orange and yellow eggs and among them there are timid violets, sumptuous roses, vivid sunflowers and candid daisies.

Some of my favourite Easter decorations from wonderful Etsy shops:

Bunnies in blue eggs by Fairyfolk
Knit softie birds by beadedwire

A traveling textile co-design installation by Etsy Netherland

I think this co-design community project by Etsy Netherland looks really exciting!
They want to make a big textile installation of small artpieces made by Etsy shop owners.
This big artwork will be shown at a dutch exhibition but also at another event in Belgium and who knows where it eventually will end up!
It's a very nice way to promote our Etsy shops!
All you have to do is a mini artwork on a piece of textile cloth 7x7 cm, that has to be sent before March 14, 2012, you can find all details here:
http://www.etsy.com/teams/5127/european-street-team-est/discuss/9834766/

I decide to join this project, this is my submission, I shipped it today!
I painted a little purple owl on my piece:

Custom painted toy chest with Winnie Pooh & friends

I
have painted this toy chest for a little girl crazy for Winnie Pooh! She asked me to re-create Winnie forest in her room, so I painted this chest with all her favourite characters.

I lined the inside of the toy chest with floral wallpaper:
It’s ready to receive all her stuffed animals!!

On the right side I painted Tigger that brings the rabbit out from a hat:

On the left side I painted Winnie Pooh with his friend Tigger:

On the lid of the chest  there are all: kangaroo, Piglet, Winnie, Tigger  and Eeyore…

Toy chest measures approx.: 15" tall, 36" long and  15" deep.

Tutorial & creative recycling: rose made of jeans!

T his beautiful rose is made from jeans scraps, I would like to show you how I made it!
You can see another craft project with jeans here: Jeans Frame tutorial

Jeans rose tutorial

Materials:
- Recycled jeans
- Water based glue
- Scissors

1-Preparing petals, to do the day before ( must dry for 24 hours)
Cut a rectangle of jeans about 2" x 4"(5x10cm).
Cut from jeans shapes of petals like those in the pictures, you will need 3 smaller petals and 10 bigger petals.

Smaller petals are about 1,6"(4cm) high and bigger petals 2"(5cm).

Make a cut in the smaller petals, will be used to bend it and give it the shape of a rose petal.

In the bigger petals make two cuts in this way:

Now you have all the elements to compose the rose.

Pass on all the petals and on the rectangle some glue diluited in a lot of water:

Let them dry for 24 hours.

2- Composing the rose
When the petals are dry you can model them and they will retain the desired shape.
Glue the smaller petals in this way to gave them the right shape:

Model petals to imitate those of a real rose:

They will maintain the shape that you gave them.

Make the same thing with bigger petal:

Stick the first two tabs together and then the third:

And model the petals:

Take the rectangle and bend it as shown in the picture below:

Begin to roll up it to form the inner part of the rose:

Fix it with a drop of glue and cut the excess.

Now you can start adding all the petals!
Stick the three smaller petals for first:

And then all the others, all around:

I used my rose to decor a bag, but it can be use for a lot of things, as a brooch, hairpin, to make a necklace, hair barretts...

What do you think of my rose?
Have other ideas to use it to decor?
